INTERN INSIGHTS: SOPHIA CHIAVAROLI

Sophia joins our team this summer as our brokerage intern! Before she dives into market research, property tours, and client projects, we asked her a few questions about herself, her interests, and her goals for the summer.

Tell us a little about yourself. Where are you from?

I grew up in Upper Arlington, Columbus, Ohio. I enjoy hiking, going on walks, attending concerts, and traveling to new places.

Where do you attend school, and what are you studying?

I attend the University of Colorado Boulder, where I’m studying real estate in the business school. I chose UC Boulder because my brother went there and I ended up visiting and loving it. I visited every year leading up to my senior year of high school and knew I wanted to go there myself for college!

What sparked your interest in commercial real estate?

What made me interested in commercial real estate is the wide range of opportunities within the field, whether that’s retail, office, or multifamily. I’m also drawn to the relationships you build and the number of people you get to work with, along with the personal and professional growth that comes from it.

What are you most excited to learn during your internship?

What I’m most excited for is the opportunity to absorb as much information as possible and to see firsthand how deals are made and the full process behind them, while learning from the brokers at Colliers.

What's your favorite retail brand right now? What's your favorite place to shop?

My favorite retail brand right now is Aritzia because of the variety of clothing it provides for different occasions, including office wear, athleisure, and everyday basics.

What's your favorite restaurant and what's your go-to order?

My favorite restaurant right now is Domo Sushi Kitchen & Bar, and my favorite dish is their spicy tuna crispy rice.

What are you looking forward to most this summer, both professionally and personally?

What I’m looking forward to most this summer is returning to school with knowledge about a new industry that I can apply to both my coursework and everyday life. I’m also excited for this summer to spend time catching up with friends and family back home.
